Meet Our Owner: Jason McKay
Jason McKay grew up right here in Chichester, NH, and has always been drawn to the local culture and the land. Serving with the New Hampshire Army National Guard led him to a rewarding career as a land surveyor, where he developed a deep appreciation for the natural beauty and resources of New Hampshire. Alongside his career, Jason cultivated a passion for farming and hunting, which grew into raising chickens, turkeys, pigs, and goats on his own farm. An avid deer hunter and self-sufficient farmer, Jason brings hands-on experience and a personal touch to everything Healthy Buffalo offers.
When the opportunity to purchase Healthy Buffalo arose, Jason felt an immediate connection, recognizing the store as a local landmark. Now, he brings his dedication to quality meats and his love for unique game offerings to the business, making Healthy Buffalo a one-of-a-kind resource for both locals and online customers.
Our History
Healthy Buffalo was originally founded in Epsom, NH, in 1993 by Alan Bissonette. The store moved to its current location in Chichester in 1996 and has grown steadily over the decades. From a small selection of meats, the store’s offerings expanded under each new owner, and today, Healthy Buffalo is renowned for its vast range of game and exotic meats, including bison, elk, venison, and even adventurous selections like alligator, camel, and kangaroo. Over the years, we’ve become a hub for specialty grocery items, including New England-made chocolates, artisanal crackers, and local maple syrup.
Our business has always evolved with our customers’ needs, and today, we’re thrilled to offer nationwide shipping with affordable rates.
